Designers might be a picky bunch, but in reality developers are no better. We find it hard to compromise on the best end-result for our clients. Part of that is pride in our work, but the other part is just good old-fashioned experience – every pitfall and success carries on to every new project we work on.

I develop in WordPress (most of the time) simply because most of the rest of the world does. It’s the most up-to-date and most secure CMS out there, and clients have a better chance of being familiar with it. If a customer needs something, WordPress provides me with the best chance of getting it for them without having to reinvent the wheel and charge an arm and a leg.

BUT WORDPRESS IS SLOW….
Sure it is, if you don’t know what you’re doing. WordPress can be lightning fast, case-in-point.

As for Arial, I know enough about history to know it’s more or less a Helvetica knock-off (which itself is a knock-off 😮). The reality, however is that it’s probably the most web-safe font out there, it’s installed on virtually every Windows and Apple machine, yadda-yadda. Truthfully, I just like it. I’m nearly 40 years old, I have fond memories of old versions of Windows (which used Arial) and hey, it’s my site.

If you think I’m wrong, great! Feel free to stick it to me by having me develop one of your Arial-free sites! Drop me a line and we can chat.
